It doesn’t matter how old you are, dancing is just downright fun. Whether you’re a trained professional or you simply like to get out on the floor and bust some moves, it brings a smile to your face. That’s why it’s always so great to see when children get involved in dance.

Generally, kids start dancing at a pretty young age. That way, they can learn the ropes as they’re growing up. But when a child takes dance lessons, it always helps when they have support from their family members.

10-year-old tapper

One girl’s name is Maeve. As part of her dance classes, she’s learning how to tap. She’s still young, but she’s catching on quickly..

Just like her grandpa

But Maeve didn’t get her talent from nowhere. Come to find out, she comes by it naturally. Her grandfather is also a tap dancer, and a very talented one at that.

Performing together

It’s not every day you get to see a grandfather and his granddaughter dance together. But that’s what happened with these two. Grandpa joined the little girl at her dance recital.

Going viral

Maeve’s mom took a video of the performance to share with family and friends. Then, she posted it online. But she didn’t realize just how much attention it would get. By now, the video has been viewed more than two million times.

An announcement

At the beginning of the tap performance, you hear an announcer calling Maeve and her grandpa, Phil, on stage. Maeve tells the audience a fun fact about him. He, his parents, and his grandparents were all performers. So, Maeve is a fifth-generation dancer. How cool is that?

Then, she shares another interesting piece of information…he’s a zookeeper at the San Diego Zoo.

The music begins

The two begin their dance by facing each other. Once the music starts, they pause before moving their tap shoes. At the very beginning, they do a little clapping routine.

Incredible dancers

Once they kick the dance into high gear, you can see just how incredibly talented they are. You might not expect that from a little girl and her grandpa, but it’s true. They know how to move perfectly in sync with the music.

Having fun

More importantly than looking good, this dance duo appears to be having the time of their life. They’re both smiling as they perform. And you can tell that Phil’s so proud of his granddaughter.

A surprise ending

When the song ends, Maeve concludes her routine with a cartwheel. It’s impressive but you’d expect that from a kid. What you probably wouldn’t expect is her grandpa following right behind her. This 72-year-old man manages to do a cartwheel on the dance floor. Although it wasn’t perfect, it was pretty darn good.

The crowd goes wild

It’s hard not to love this on-stage duo. It’s heartwarming to see a granddaughter bonding with her grandpa like this. But it’s also wonderful to see how much talent the two of them have. It’s’ obvious the audience at the performance feels the same way. When they finished the dance, everyone started to clap enthusiastically.
