It’s never easy to perform in front of a massive crowd.

Even for many adults, the thought of getting on stage in front of their peers is frightening. That’s exactly what makes this next video so impressive. Watch as these then 2nd graders, own the stage like a couple of seasoned grownups dancing the night away. Oh to be young again!

The National Shag Dance Competition in North Myrtle Beach started in 1984 and has put a spotlight on talented children ever since.

Carolina Shag is a partner dance that is said to have originated in Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina back in the 1940s and is now recognized on national dance circuits.

Derived from the Carolina Jitterbug, the Carolina Shag is an eight-step dance pattern that is done to six-count intervals. The National Shag Dance Competition has been going on for almost 40 years, and has seen winners go on to perform on major television shows like Good Morning America.

Back in 2015, two children dancing at the NSDC stood out from the rest and melted hearts across the internet.

The video posted by The Myrtle Beach Sun News shows three dancing couples, but the last two dancers featured on the video are the youngest, and most adorable out of the bunch.

The video starts off with two 6th graders who also do a fabulous job spinning, hopping and gliding around the dance floor.

After the 6th graders routine, the video moves to a 7th and 8th grader who have some serious moves.

When it’s time for the 7th and 8th graders to dance, they pull out some complex moves that stun the crowd but the second graders are not intimidated at all.

The second graders are Brooke Farrior and Billy West, and they came ready to dance!

With smiles on their faces, they jump right into their routine and it’s adorable right from the start.

The 2nd graders have mastered the art of the Carolina Shag dance and it shows.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork, and these two are completely in sync as they spin each other around on the dance floor.

At one point, Billy dips down to the ground on one leg while Brooke helps hold him up.

The crowd goes crazy for Billy and Brooke, but how could you not? The lovable little kids elegantly glide around the dance floor, with Brooke smiling from ear to ear the entire time.

Brooke and Billy also danced in the Grand National Dance Competition in 2015.

This time the two dancers really go all out, in an almost four-minute dance routine that left people wanting more!

The video from the Grand Nationals gives you a much better look into their vast repertoire of dance moves. Along with all their other smooth moves, Brooke and Billy show off some incredible footwork in the Grand National Dance Competition.

They’ve only gotten better with time—still dancing as partners, Billy and Brooke won the NSDC last year!

Just last year, Billy and Brooke were still tearing up the dance floor in the 2020 National Shag Dance Competition, and their moves now will have your jaw on the floor.

Their years dancing together have made them totally in tune with each other’s moves, which is exactly why they shut down the house at the 2020 NSDC and took home the victory.

Seeing them stick with after all these years should be an inspiration to children and adults alike. Who knows where the road will take them, but we just hope they continue shag dancing along the way. To see their prize-winning performance of 2020, just click this link.
