“The Prayer” was originally released as separate solo tracks for the animated film Quest for Camelot. There’s a solo version for Celine Dion recorded in English and another for Andrea Bocelli in Italian.
This popular classical crossover song by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa, and Tony Renis was also recorded as a duet between Dion and Bocelli and appeared on each of their solo albums in 1998 and 1999.
“The Prayer” won Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999 and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2000.
It’s a song people all over the world never get tired of hearing. Especially during difficult moments. Times when everything seems uncertain. Regardless of religion, this song moves people to their own personal place of prayer or mediation.
While it is Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s original work that gets all the attention, Andrea has had many duets with talented singers over the years. Including performances with Helene Fischer.
This Russian lady migrated to Germany at the age of three. Helene is a successful singer, dancer, entertainer, television presenter, and actress. She’s won lots of awards, and with a voice like that, is no slouch when on stage with Bocelli.
She looks lovely in a dress that matches the sparkle in her eyes.
Helene is a beautiful lady, looking very much like an angel standing beside a man who, Celine Dion says, has a voice that God would use if God were to sing.
Andrea looks dapper in his suit, and this man is known for dressing like a true icon.
He may have been blinded as boy during a football accident but rest assured, his handsome features don’t go unnoticed even in his advanced years. But it’s that voice, that exquisite gem of a voice, that’s made him one of the world’s best singers. Ever.
The comments section are, naturally, full of praises.
“I came here for Andrea Bocelli but fell in love with Helene Fischer instead”
Says Oathbreaker. Cool name.
“Absolutely Beautiful! You both sound like angels from heaven.!!!”
How many songs have this effect on listeners? Or perhaps it’s Andrea and Helene’s unbelievable vocals?
Now we all know Andrea’s singing talent. But listen to Helene!
She’s matching Bocelli note for note, from low to high, carrying the song all the way to the end without a sweat! She’s incredible!
Watch out, Celine.
As amazing as this was on video, imagine what it must have been like live. Those people in attendance must have been stunned. They came for a show but got a glimpse of heaven instead. Andrea has that effect on people. And now, Fischer does too.
This breathtaking, soul stirring song just had a revival courtesy of this Russian-German sensation and the always unbelievable Andrea Bocelli.
