One of life’s biggest challenges is to keep our bodies and minds young as we get older.

When we’re little kids, we’re generally filled with a carefree sense of life. We’re open to experimentation, sharing our thoughts and talents with the rest of the world and generally expressing ourselves. As we get more social constraints put on us, there’s more of a pressure to fit in and to be “responsible” and more adult. Still, finding the fun in life is important and it helps keep us young!

That’s why the couple in this story is so adorable and inspiring.

As the video starts, we see an older man and woman in the middle of the dance floor.

They are Nellia and Dietmar Ehrentraut, and they are 66 and 72 years old, respectively. They’ve been married to one another since 1970—and they both love to dance. Although they’re not necessarily a household name, the Ehrentrauts are pretty well-known in the dance community as passionate and daring dancers, no matter how old they get! Although they’ve got plenty of performances under their belts, there’s one dance in particular that has been circulating around the internet.

The dance in question is this boogie woogie competition video!

As the clip starts, Nellia and Dietmar are already in the middle of some steps, spinning each other around while the crowd watches.

Although you might think these two would take it easy, you’d be totally wrong! Just a few seconds into the video, Dietrich is already spinning Nellia around and dipping her to the ground completely seamlessly. The crowd cheers as Dietrich stays more or less in place, letting Nellia spin and twirl around him. After a minute, the two get in a line and start doing some kick moves together. Before long, it’s back to the more daring moves.

A moment later, Dietrich takes Nellia under the armpit and dips her all the way to the ground—and the crowd roars.

Still, they’re not done!

After that, Dietrich passes Nellia underneath his legs from the front side as she slides back up to her feet again with no effort at all. After a few more sets of moves, the Ehrentrauts take a bow. Still, they do several more incredible performances throughout the rest of the video without even breaking a sweat. If it’s not already clear, the Ehrentrauts are experienced dancers and even still teach classes.

And there are plenty of other videos of them performing to be found online.

For more and more updates on their life, you’ll have to check out their website, which is in German.

Still, there’s always the translate button on your web browser! One of their more recent videos was posted in 2019 from the Rock That Swing Festival. Once again, the competition has the lovely couple hopping and stepping around the dance floor with ease.

The whole crowd is loving their energy before they start pulling out some of the more daring moves—first, Dietrich spins Nellia around quite a bit. After that, he pushes her to the ground from the front and lifts her back up again!

Right after that, she does another drop and gets up again as well!

By the end of the second performance, they’re getting a standing ovation.

If you liked these videos, there are plenty of other clips to find if you know where to look. As you can see from these videos, the Ehrentrauts are so inspiring in how they manage to bring youthful exuberance and confidence to their steps—no matter how much time goes by! Although everybody likes to dance at least a little bit, not everybody can do the moves that they pull off. After watching these clips, it’s easy to see why they have millions of views worldwide.
