About 10 years ago, teenagers all over the world went through a major “emo” phase.

Aside from the raccoon eyes, side-swept bangs, jet black hair, converse-style footwear and dark clothes, emo music was certainly another highlight of the era.

Green Day is one of the most popular rock bands from America.

They gained popularity during the Dookie era in 1994 but eventually, the short burst of fame wore off. The band was originally founded by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. Fortunately, they made a comeback album called American Idiot which led them to regain the spotlight in 2004.

“Boulevard of Broken Dreams” was the fourth track on the album, which became a hit and remains one of Green Day’s signature songs.

Everyone in the world has heard this song at some point, and as of this year, it is the only song to win both the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and the MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year.

You can watch countless instrumental covers for this song, but this particular cover from a 34-year-old violinist woman is sure to give you a different kind of nostalgia.

She began her introduction by seamlessly plucking the strings on her violin while a keyboardist complements her tune.

A cajon player joins them to start the song, which turns it into a piece of upbeat classical music.

Their instruments gave off strong feelings of loneliness and isolation, just as the original song intended. If you’re into classical and emo rock music, this cover is definitely for you!

You can see the emotions that the violinist is trying to pour into her instrument.

Her passion undeniably oozes out through every sound she produces. Meanwhile, the percussionist was in a world of his own—just casually tapping his box like he was having the time of his life.

As they approach the end of the song, the keyboard player starts to loosen the pedals and bang the keys.

The Cajon player keeps up with the beat and finally, the violinist gracefully slides her bow across the nylon strings. Together, they produce a beautiful piece of music with a strong finale.
