Unsynchronized movements, ungraceful stances and a messy routine.
These are all factors that make up a ballet performance that is truly one-of-a-kind—and only dancers who are in a class of their own can pull it off.
What happens when you have a group recital and only three people show up? Or when you need nine people for a dance routine and only three people are available? The answer: you create dummies.
At first glance, you might think these performers are a bit silly.
After that, we’re sure you’ll be excited about the skills these young ones have to offer—just like the live audience who welcomed them with cheers and whistles. Even though instead of a graceful gait, you are met with ballerinas skipping merrily.
Their entire ensemble itself is unusual, but nevertheless, they are ready to perform.
Though it’s difficult to notice at first, there are only three people on stage—each person just has two marionettes attached to them as they dance! It all explains the weird movements and stiff posture at the start.
If you focus on each individual dancer, they are all doing different steps!
It makes you think they might’ve had separate choreographers and just decided, later on, to fuse their routines and create one big mess. It’s not what anyone expected, but they still pull it off!
Everyone hollered with laughter when MC Hammer’s 1990 hit song “U Can’t Touch This” played in the background.
When the first two girls were pumping their chests in and out, there was another wave of chaos—all while the girl at the back is sways her hands up and down.
Their dance steps were simple, but watching the dummies move around with them creates such a unique effect.
It’s clear that the audience thinks the same, as everyone is laughing and cheering the whole time!
Another thing that was amusing was their obvious mistakes.
It was clearly intended for comedic purposes, and those moments only added to the impact of the performance. We could watch this show again and again!
That was particularly true when the music shifted and they stopped to think for a second what the next set of steps would be.
They even exchange glances with one another as if reading each other’s minds for the next move! It’s like they just practiced once, a day before their performance!
The dolls look really funny as their distorted bodies dance to the tune of Beyonce’s 2008 hit song “Single Ladies.”
They also jammed to “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice. Considering the performance itself, the creativity, the costumes and the concept, we give these dancers a 10/10!
When they commit mistakes in their routine or forget the next dance step, they really take their time to discuss what will be their next move in the midst of their performance.
Despite their performance seeming nonchalant and half-baked, one of the purposes of dancing is to entertain—and they definitely nailed it. To be able to come up with such a brilliant idea is truly commendable! Although the world of ballet is typically thought of as uptight and strict, these dancers turned that idea on its head with this performance—and it’s clear the entire world responded to it.
