Here’s a treat for the senses.
During the 15th annual national award in the field of popular music, MUZ-TV, Andrea Bocelli and Zara serenaded the audience after a special nomination for “Best Inertanional Duo”.
The production itself was enough to open the eyes of all the adults sitting there but it’s when the singing begins that the magic happens.
Who is Zara?
Zarifa Pashaevna Mgoyan is a Russian pop singer, actress and social activist. The Russian beauty was born in Leningrad and at an early age already showed promise in the world of music.
She was just 12 when the young Zara met musician and composer Oleg Kvasha. In 1996, Kvasha and Zara recorded the songs “The Heart of Juliette”, “Just Today”, “Right Now…” and “Lullaby (Bye-Bye-Bye)”.
Radio stations took notice and Zara’s name began to make the rounds.
She takes the stage with the legendary Italian tenor for “Time to say goodbye/Con te partirò“. The duo have barely started singing but the audience already have that look on their faces.
They knew this was going to be priceless.
The performance for Zara and Andrea Bocelli that evening was staged by the famous Russian director Vasiliy Barhatov, who also happens to be a good friend of Zara’s.
And would you look at that stage.
Barhatov conceived of the singers, together with the orchestra, to be placed on a floating platform which would continuously rising during the performance.
Zara knew the risks but it was all worth it.
She says, “Several minutes before the performance Andrea deeply surprised me as he had decided not to use the safety wires, and I fully supported his decision. As a result, we were floating in the air on the swing-platforms, trying to be as careful as possible”.
Bocelli and Zara met several years prior. An acquaintance turned into a wonderful friendship between two unbelievable singers with out of this world voices we wish we could imitate.

Zara’s tone just takes you to another world. To a place only you will understand.
“Time to say goodbye” was released by Bocelli in 1995. There have been many renditions and several performances but this duet has to be one of the best over the years.
If the universe bestowed gifts of music to selected mortals, surely Andrea and Zara were in front of the line.
Performances like these capture the very essence of music. There’s an unspoken, powerful element to it that goes beyond borders and languages. Like the language of angels.
Celine Dion did say Bocelli’s voice is what God would use to sing. Or something to that effect. Zara must be a goddess then.
