Father-daughter wedding dances are a time-honored American tradition.

For most brides, that moment is one of the most important parts of the wedding. It celebrates a special daddy-daughter bond and gives fathers an opportunity to symbolically marry away their daughters, giving their hand to another man.

Andrea, the bride of this video, couldn’t have that dance. Her father passed away just before her wedding. Nevertheless, her brother decides to give her a big surprise. He wanted to make this part of the wedding as memorable as possible for her and did a great job.

Fortunately, he managed to make it feel as if their father was still there.

The video begins with the bride’s brother briefly explaining his idea of making father-daughter wedding dance a little bit different.

Andrea, the bride, is standing alone in the middle of the stage. Her father is not there and they can’t share that special dance, but Andrea’s brother decides to stage a surprise for her. Instead of a moment of sadness, her brother decides to honor their father and make him part of the wedding—even though he’s not there.

Since their father’s favorite song was “Butterfly Kisses,” the brother decided to sing it for the bride. When it finally happens, it’s a special moment of mixed emotions. The wedding guests feel sadness for the sibings’ loss, but they’re still happy to remember the father.

Andrea and her brother are both in tears, but he builds up his strength and starts singing.

Her family members and father’s friends danced with her as well!

Even if Andrea couldn’t dance with her father, her family members and father’s friends approach her on the stage and dance with her instead. The bride is in tears, but it’s clear she’s moved by the surprise.

Although no one can replace her father, Andrea still needs all the love and support in the world at that moment. The song seems perfect for the wedding. Lyrics sound like all the things any father would say to his daughter on her wedding day. Wedding guests are all brought to tears and it is obvious that her father isn’t and will never be forgotten.

And as it turns out, the brother is a really good singer!
