It’s been nearly two decades since he passed and he’s still one of America’s funniest comedians.

Hackett tells Carson’s audience 3 animal jokes.

However, it’s the last one about a duck that has the audience in stitches.

Hackett tells his jokes with a pretty serious face but then the punchline just sort of sneaks up on you. Carson can’t help himself and is falling over his desk by the end of the third joke.

“And she says to the farmer…why doesn’t that cow have any horns?” – Hackett

After some of the hilarious explaining by the ‘farmer,’ of why certain cows have horns and some are cut off. Hackett delivers the punchline,

“and the reason that that cow doesn’t have any horns is because it’s a horse.” – Hackett.

Commenters online have nothing but praise for Buddy’s genius delivery.

“Damn, I miss Buddy Hackett. Look at how he sits back with supreme confidence IMMEDIATELY after delivering the duck joke punchline, even before it registers and the people laugh come, he knows he has that audience in the palm of his hand. One of the all time greats, for sure.”

“Buddy Hackett is kind of a treasure that I don’t think we realized we had until we didn’t have him anymore. AND there’s NEVER been anyone to replace him. God bless him and Johnny and Ed. May they all rest in peace.”

“Buddy Hackett was a god of comedians. His sense of delivery and timing was everything, and he was the master. The jokes are ones that maybe you have heard before — but not like Buddy delivered them. They don’t make comedians like him anymore. And they don’t have late night talk shows like Carson anymore either. The two of them together are just the best ever.”

Buddy Hackett’s entertainment career spanned 6 decades.

‘He was born in Brooklyn and was known mainly as a nightclub comic, especially in Las Vegas, where he first performed in 1952 and wound up being one of the biggest headliners in that city’s history. Hackett always referred to himself as a “saloon comic” and preferred the intimacy of his stage act–where he would often bring members of the audience up on stage with him–to films and television.’ – imbd.com
