Spanish ventriloquist Celia Munoz had America’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara both impressed and laughing with her amazing act.

Celia revealed that she was originally an opera singer but began to pursue ventriloquism as a passion and profession after seeing videos of “AGT” winners like Terry Fator (Season 2) and Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12).

“I kept practicing and doing shows in Spain and I wanted to come to ‘AGT’ because this is the place for this art form,” she revealed.

The 36-year-old Spaniard says she’s only been a ventriloquist for the past two years.

Simon remarked, “That is quick. Normally people take about 20 years to learn how to do this, but you’ve done it in two years.”

Well, videos of ventriloquists and some red wine according to Munoz.

Her act didn’t include a puppet or doll like other ventriloquists.

Instead, Celia’s act was to show how a ventriloquist gets ready for work.

That in itself had the audience craning their necks.

Munoz brings out a small radio, switching channels while voicing out random songs and static noises before sitting down in front of a mirror where she begins flossing and brushing her teeth.

At this point, the audience was stunned.

Eyes wide open and jaws dropped, they begin to cheer the Spanish ventriloquist and even Terry Crews was amazed.

Celia starts applying lip gloss and drinking water while singing getting the crowd worked up.

Munoz was then interrupted by a phone call in which she spoke in her own voice as well as the other person’s voice.

“Yes, Sofia Vergara is here, she’s here,” Celia told the other guy on the phone, which had the Colombian-born judge laughing.

Impressive! And she didn’t need a puppet.

Celia was trained as a lyrical Soprano at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.

She worked internationally on classical and contemporary operatic projects during her time there.

Munoz began as a classical actress, working with the theater company La Espada De Madera in Madrid, Spain.

She participated in festivals such as the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival.

She even won an award by the Finnish Culture Foundation!

Her smooth transitions all while carrying out the usual pre-show routine had the judges and the crowd on their feet as soon as she finished.

That accent does add to her charm too!

“I don’t even know what to say, that was such a surprise,” Sofia commented when the audience finally died down. “That was so different than anything that we’ve ever seen.”

The other judges agreed, with Heidi Klum calling it “refreshing” and Howie saying it was the “most original thing”.

Simon was so impressed he said it was the “most creative” ventriloquist act in all 17 seasons. That’s high praise right there!

Celia’s act got her four Yeses which means we’ll be seeing more of this talented ventriloquist in the next round. Perfecto! Gracias señora!

This young lady has taken ventriloquism to another level!

Though ventriloquism itself is not new at all.

Traces of its art go back into Egyptian and Hebrew archaelogy.

The first known ventriloquists were Louis Brabant, who was a valet to the the French King at the time, King Francis I from the 16th century.

The technique was perfected in the 18th century and became well known in India and China.

In the United States ventriloquism holds a popular place in entertainment with the artists most commonly using a puppet.

In the past the puppet was carved out of wood, but more recently have gotten quite stylish and sometimes even more humorous.

But, even a simple sock made into a puppet has been incorporated into ventriloquist acts.

Not to mention, how many parents out there have become “ventriloquists” all on their own trying to make their children laugh with silly voices and “sock” puppets.

As far as this skilled ventriloquist, she certainly puts a different spin on the ancient art.

To drink water and still “tossing” her voice takes it to an entirely different level that the judges and members of the audience had never seen before.

Most certainly her performance will be remembered for a very long time for its unique spin!
