When it comes to online entertainment, you see a lot of vocalists, dancers, and bands. But what you don’t see much of are cheerleading squads. Similar to dancers, people who cheer, especially on the competition level, have to possess skill, creativity, and athleticism. The types of routines they do aren’t easy even though they make it appear so.

Back in 2015, the Quince Orchard High School Pom Squad did a performance that was so incredible, viewers were astounded. After uploading a video of the event, it quickly went viral. To date, it’s been seen more than 2.7 million times.

The crowd gets settled in

At the start of the video, you see people in the stands scurrying to take their seats. Even before this pom squad performs, there’s a buzz in the air. Considering it has a reputation for doing some really difficult routines, that makes perfect sense. Finally, everyone’s ready and waiting in anticipation.

Part of a football game

Next, you see the entire football team busting through a sign as they run onto the field. At that point, the crowd goes wild. They hurry past the cheerleaders and marching band. Once they’re in place, the video shows the pom squad lined up in a single file. Although everyone expected them to do a great job, they had no idea just how fantastic their performance would end up being.

Let the show begin

For this routine, the squad chose the song “I’ve Got Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. The minute you hear the lyrics, “Tonight’s going to be a good night,” the girls raise their left hands, pointing bright red pom-poms into the air. Then, they then raise the silver pom-poms in their right hands, followed by lowering both sets. While doing so, they stay in perfect unison.

Things are heating up

The girls drop to their knees one by one, creating a dramatic rippling effect. Once the song’s tempo increases, they position themselves into two groups, synchronizing the moves of their pom-poms. They then form a circle. After they’re all together, they turn their heads and bodies around so they’re facing the crowd.

Wow…that was cool

With the music winding up, they roll the pom poms up and down. It looks like some kind of carnival ride. This move might be simple but it’s still stunning. That’s when you can hear the people in attendance shout out cheers. That part of the routine alone is both unique and exciting. But they’re just getting started.

Just like on Broadway

For a couple of seconds, the camera zooms out. But once it zooms back in on the squad, you see that the girls had formed a single line. That’s when they do the high kick made famous by the Rockettes. Once again, they’re in perfect harmony. I’m not sure the crowd can get any louder.

Almost four minutes of exciting entertainment

From the start of the video to the finish, this squad doesn’t disappoint. They go into dips that look like a snake, then into a few dance moves, and onto the splits. These girls have it going on and they know it. Throughout the routine, the smiles on their faces never fade.
