This made my day, so creative.

When a worldwide pandemic happens, and everyone is locked inside, people get creative! Some people go wild on Amazon and order ALL the arts and craft kits to spend their time. Others might pick up guitar lessons again, long abandoned as a teenager. Whatever it is, this church group did one of the funniest things ever in their spare time!

We have all heard the chorus of the Hallelujah chorus from Handels song “Messiah.”

As one of the most popular songs and art elements in the modern West, the Hallelujah Chorus is used in movies, choirs, churches, and television shows daily. Originally written in 1741, the song has quite the tenure!

With a couple hundred years of singing, it was time for someone to make it their own again!

Old songs that we still perform today are usually taken, adapted, and made fresh and new. That’s what makes music so incredible! People can take something ancient and turn it into something new and applicable to a new generation.

One church decided to make a video in its “covid free time.”

Since so many people were locked at home and weren’t attending church services (this was back in April), College Church in Wheaton decided to make good use of their time. Using the song’s chorus moment (the famous one), they had all of their church members find creative ways to provide the lyrics using signs!

The video is almost four minutes long and is FULL of hilarious and creative ways to show the lyrics.

Each family that decided to be a part of the video found super unique ways to show off their section of the song. The singular consistent theme (besides the song, of course) is the plain white paper and text that every family uses.

Here are a few of the funniest and most creative ones!

Starting near the beginning, we see a bunch of kids hiding behind a tree! Who knows how many takes it took to get as perfectly synced up with the video as these guys were.

As above, so below?

Somehow this family was able to get an aerial shot of them flipping their signs over! Using some fancy drone-work (or maybe just a large tree), they all looked up and flipped their signs perfectly on queue with the song. That’s some skill!

A sign of the times.

The video wasn’t going to be complete unless someone wore a face mask! They are just too relevant right now for a whole video to pass without some type of reference to them. This family did just that.

Clean plates and a clean heart.

In good fashion, this family put all their sign onto a load of dishes. When each lyric passes, the next family member grabs a dish, revealing the next element! This has to be one of the best in the whole video.

As the video concludes, we see everyone who played a part in the video!

The entire production must have taken weeks to organize, shoot, and edit! In the end, we see all the people who helped with their signs, all together. This church knows how to take a potentially boring month and make it a bit more exciting!
