If you’re a big music fan, one of the best experiences in the world is getting to see your favorite artist perform live.

Depending on who they are or when you see them, you might be in for an intimate show or a sweeping, epic one.

When the group or the venue is smaller, you can really connect with the music in a different way and see your favorite stars up close. In a bigger setting, you feel all the emotions amplified and experience them with tons of other people.

Still, the performance we’re talking about today had a little bit of both.

The video was loaded on YouTube in June of 2017.

As it turns out, it’s video from a Coldplay concert in Germany. For those who don’t know, Coldplay is a British rock band that started in 1996, though they’ve since gone on to become hugely popular.

After having a few smash hits in the early 2000s, they released more records recently and have earned their reputation as an exciting arena rock group. When the clip begins, a man in the front row is holding a sign. It says: “Can I play Everglow for you?” Everglow is one of Coldplay’s newer songs from 2015.

And a moment later, lead singer Chris Martin sees the sign and comments on it.

First, Martin asks the fan if he’s really serious about getting on stage to perform with him.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he says that he is. After that, Martin tells him to come on up—and the crowd loses their minds. A moment later, Martin asks him once again if he’s sure he wants to play it in front of so many people, but again he says he does.

With that, he’s up on stage and sitting at the piano. After that, Martin asks him if he knows where to start—and he plays the first chords effortlessly.

At this, Martin walks away laughing—“I should just go home!” he says.

With all that out of the way, Martin says they’ll be doing a “German and British union” to perform the song.

Although the piano player starts a little too quickly, Martin has him slow down. A moment later, they’re perfectly in sync.

With that, Martin sings over him. After that, the whole audience is singing along as well. Although the boy took a huge risk by putting the sign up and getting on stage, he completely nails it! After the first verse is over, he even manages a perfect piano solo.

At this, the whole crowd gives him a huge round of applause!

The performance gets better and better as it goes on, when it’s all over, he fits the final note and hugs the lead singer!

After that, there’s yet another huge round of applause. Needless to say, you can’t prepare for the moments in life like this one!

Although he hoped he’d get noticed by the band, he probably never expected that he’d actually get to perform on stage with them. While his performance was great in and of itself, it was also inspiring that the band took a risk and let him get up there in front of so many people.

Congratulations to Coldplay and to the mystery performer for an inspiring performance! Check out the full thing below:
