They call it the “original” swing dance, so the Lindy Hop has been around, enjoyed by many generations of dancers.

You’ll see fast rotations, swing outs and high-energy footwork.

The Lindy Hop is certainly the most iconic style of swing dancing, with some saying it was as popular today as it was in the 1930s.

This high energy dance began in the 1920s and 30s in Harlem New York.

Jazz music by then was extremely popular in the United States resulting in many dance fads emerging.

Lindy Hop was born from the influences of a variety of styles, like the Charleston and Tap.

Here’s a fun fact.

Lindy Hop was indeed developed as an African American dance, which in part was based on the popular Charleston dance.

It was named after Charles Lindberg’s flight to Paris in 1927, resulting in the dance evolving in the streets of Harlem.

The funny part is that the dance has no “hop” to it.

Such a fun vibe to this dance, just seeing Brandon and Pamela smile and have a great time to it makes you want to at least try this style. Surely there’s a place nearby for lessons!
