What is the best way to make an unforgettable event?

A few options come to mind, but for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, their answer was to hire some flashmob experts. It turned out to be a smart move and everyone had so much fun seeing British music through the decades.

Club Mob project started out in 2014 by bringing together professional dancers, singers and musicians.

They go undercover at special events, weddings or parties and heat the atmosphere with purposely created choreographies. Club Mob’s best-selling act is their singing waiters show, which is booked all over the UK. More than 248,000 fans are subscribed to their YouTube channel, where they regularly post videos of hilarious, personalized performances.

Their teams in London and Manchester are hand-picked, and they also offer consulting services if you plan to create a flash mob on your own.

In July 2019, MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept celebrated their 60th anniversary and wanted to celebrate. Of course, the celebration had to be a blast. MINI returned to the Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase the brand new Electric Avenue, and MINI Electric was the star of the show. Everyone wanted to see the car ahead of its launch in 2020.

Club Mob had a tough task to come up with a routine to accompany MINI’s presentation, and they opted for a medley of best British music from the ’60s to 2010s.

It makes perfect sense—six decades of music going hand-in-hand with six decades of MINI being on the scene.

The Goodwood Festival is located just outside Chichester, 60 miles from London.

Is there a better way to begin than with the Beatles? Everyone is minding their business—walking around, looking at cars, talking to each other—when a man dressed in colorful clothes steps out front. He’s joined by another dancer and “Come Together” by The Beatles plays in the background.

Two guys are interrupted by a girl in a checkered dance who becomes part of the act, and the way they toss her in the air convinces everyone that those are some professional dancers doing their thing.

Then the song switches to “Stayin’ Alive” by Bee Gees, and more dancers come along.

Their routine is so good and when a guy starts doing splits on the concrete, the audience loses it! It must have taken weeks of preparation. Before long, the group switches into the ’80s and plays “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie.

After the disco era that cheered everyone for, the ’80s seemed to fit the mood perfectly.

“Ride on Time” by Black Box involved even more dancers. We laughed so hard at the moment when a girl in a pink blazer surprised a guy next to her as she jumped, preparing to enter the stage!

All the dancers were hiding among the unsuspecting crowd, which is awesome.

It all ends with “Where’s Your Head At” and “Came Here for Love.”
