Of all the many competition shows on television, The Voice has got to be one of the most consistently entertaining.

Unlike a bunch of other shows, The Voice has a lot more tricks up its sleeve that make the competition more interesting. For one thing, all of the contestants come out onstage to do “blind auditions,” meaning the judges can’t see which of them is singing at first.

After they come out, each one sings and if the judges like them, they can hit their buzzers to turn around and try to recruit that person onto their singing team.

That’s because unlike other shows, each of the judges is competing with one another to win as well.

While the main version we all know is the American version, the truth is that The Voice has a number of shows all around the world.

Aside from its many international versions, it also has a shows that are dedicated to cultivating younger talent as well—and these shows are aptly named The Voice Kids.

The performance we’re talking about today comes from The Voice Kids Spain, specifically the show’s 2017 season. The contestant’s name was Edgar, and he walked out onstage just like anybody else.

A moment later, the backing music starts up and he begins to sing.

From the very beginning, it’s clear that Edgar has a special voice.

The song he decides to sing is “Y Cómo Es Él,” originally composed for Julio Iglesias (though it has since been covered by Marc Antony as well).

From the very first notes, it’s clear that Edgar has masterful control over his voice even though he’s still so young. As he goes on, he hits some incredibly delicate vocal runs and the judges can’t believe their ears.

Right before he gets to the chorus, two of the judges hit their buzzers to turn around.

In fact, one of the judges is so excited that he smashes his buzzer over and over again!

Although it’s not an easy to sing, Edgar’s performance only gets better and better as he goes on. Most impressive is that he’s so young but he puts so much emotion and soul into it!

He hits more and more impressive vocal runs as the song goes on and finishes strong on a lower, gentle note which he sustains. When it’s finally over, he takes a bow.

After that, the judges and the audience give him a huge round of applause.

Although The Voice Kids Spain is a relatively niche show from a global perspective, the performance has still garnered some 21 million views on YouTube!

After watching it, it’s definitely not hard to see why. Even though he’s so young, Edgar sings with the passion and control of somebody much, much older. The subject matter of the song he chose is about the jealousy and pain that comes with seeing a lover with another person.

Although it’s a topic well beyond his years, he was able to step seamlessly into that role and wallop the audience with it! Needless to say, Edgar is definitely going to have a future in music.
