Dance Duo Freckled Sky Gets Golden Buzzer On AGT

July 26th, 2019

Dance is one of the purest forms of self-expression that there is.

While things like books, movies and music all rely on one level of abstraction plus a layer of words to get across their message, dance performances rely exclusively on the movement of a body to tell a story.

Though the quality of the performance can differ and there are different feelings that can be expressed, what remains is the direct emotional connection with an audience. For those reasons and others, dancers seem to do well on reality performance shows.

And this audition was no exception.

The performance we’re talking about today took place on America’s Got Talent’s 2015 season.

Like any other audition, it begins with the dancers talking to the camera crew backstage and introducing themselves. Their names are Jaylin and Olga, and together they are the dancers in Freckled Sky.

As they explain, they both are experienced dancers… but their new project is a little bit unusual. While it does include dance, it also includes a creative director behind the project who helps shape a story using other elements as well.

Before long, it’s time for Freckled Sky to get out on stage in front of the audience.

As they introduce themselves to the judges, they explain a little about what everyone will be seeing.

They explain that their dance performance includes a ton of different elements including water and special lighting… and judge Howard Stern says he’s definitely curious about what he’ll see.

Before long, everyone clears the way for them to perform. After that, the lights go down and a light show begins. As it starts, it looks as though Jaylin is standing under an umbrella and getting rained on.

Still, there’s something unusual and unreal about it.

Somehow, the light hitting the water makes it look so surreal!

Before long, there are plenty of other light and water effects on stage bringing their choreography to life in a whole new way.

Though the dancing itself is impressive, the lighting tells a story all of its own… and when it’s all over, the dancers really are soaked to the skin! When it’s finally over, the audience gives them a huge round of applause.

Needless to say, the performers delivered that “something different” that the crowd was looking for!

Finally, it’s time for the judges to give their feedback.

As Stern says, the show was incredible and it’s hard to believe that it was put together by just two people. Of course, nobody has mentioned the group’s stage director, Val, yet.

Before long, Val comes onstage to take a bow and explain his intentions with the show. Finally, Stern says that the performance was hugely moving to him.

And with that, he smashes the Golden Buzzer!

Needless to say, this performance is one of the most unique ones that the show has ever seen.

While dance performances are always popular on shows like this, it’s not every day you see a creative show quite like this one. As this audition shows, sometimes it takes a little bit of extra showmanship behind the raw talent to truly make a difference.
