They were definitely feeling themselves! I loved every second of it!

If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve probably heard a lot of quotes and phrases. Two of those include “you’re only as old as you feel” and “age is just a number.” While a few people scoff at these, most embrace them.

For anyone who doesn’t believe these quotes are true, they haven’t met a group of older women who recently did something amazing. They pulled off some incredible dance moves. And onlookers couldn’t get enough.

A large group of women

It all started with a group of about 30 women ranging in age between 40 and 60. And they all love to dance. So, one of them came up with an idea … let’s head to the local park and put on a show.

Taking things up a notch

But these older women didn’t just want to do an improv dance, they wanted it to look as professional as possible. To accomplish that, they first had to select the right song. Then, they worked with Zaldy Lanas who choreographed the piece.

Earth, Wind & Fire

After considering several options, the women decided to dance to Earth, Wind & Fire. For those of you who are still young, you might not know that during the 1970s, this was one, if not the hottest, group around. Even today, a lot of diehard fans listen to their music.

A perfect choice of song

Hey, if you’re going to showcase your dance moves and pay tribute to a band like Earth, Wind and Fire, you might as well go with one of their top hits, “Let’s Groove.” With everything in place, the women did their thing. After uploading the video on social media, it went viral with more than 725,000 views.

Disco theme sans the sparkles

This particular song was released at the height of the disco craze. The only thing missing from the women’s video was the flashy clothes seen in the 1970s. Instead, they all donned black.

Getting the party started

From the second the music started to play these ladies got right into the dance. While they had a leader in front, none of them needed to follow. They had every step down to a tee.

Kudos to the choreographer

You have to give Zaldy Lanas a lot of credit. The choreography they chose came up with something spot-on. At the same time, the women deserve kudos considering they were actually quite good.

Reminiscent of old times

For anyone who went disco dancing during the 1970s, this probably brings back a lot of fond memories. Between the music, the bounces, the sways, and the handclaps, it all looks very familiar. Who knows, this might encourage some individuals to pull out their old Earth, Wind & Fire music so they can dance, too.

Changing it up

Not long into the video, the number of women diminishes. Even so, they don’t miss a beat as “Let’s Groove” continues to play. At one point, a man is seen dancing along with them although we have no idea if he was part of the gig or just someone who was drawn in by the music.

Back together

Then, the entire group of women comes back together to finish the dance. Watching them, there’s no question they had a blast doing this. And with a video, this is something they can share with their children, grandchildren, and perhaps great-grandchildren … showing that age really is just a number.
