High school is a time for discovering just what it is that makes you truly happy and passionate. For some, it’s excelling in academics and hungering for more knowledge. Others turn to sports, basking in an environment that promotes healthy competition and teamwork. Then there are the artistic ones: the writers, painters, singers, and dancers. With them, there is always an opportunity for self-expression and creativity.

These ladies from Rosa Parks High School are great examples of the wonders of the arts.

This simple rehearsal clip alone proves that massive talent means massive impact.

Tiara Cordova, Kyeshe Fuller, Rogett Gauntlett, and Brianna Perez were rehearsing a song and dance number by a school parking lot. It was only a rehearsal alright, but it had ‘winning performance’ written all over it.

In true girl group fashion, the foursome assembled to show a lead vocalist and backup singers. Not just together to bring the house down with their song and dance number, the ladies are actually good friends in real life which explains the chemistry and smooth rehearsal.

With their incredible voices, the ladies of Rosa Parks High School began singing the Motown hit.

“Wait Mister Postman, oh yeah
(Is there a letter in your bag for me)
Please, please Mister Postman
(Why’s it been a very long time) Oh yeah…”
Not everyone can pull off a Motown cover. Simple as the song sounds, hits like “Please Mister Postman” can’t be sung just like that.

The lead vocalist’s voice was strong and clear, and the backup singers harmonized so impressively that it would have made the original singers of “Please Mister Postman” beam with pride.

There was no instrumental accompaniment, just rhythmic clapping, a flawless harmony of voices, and lots of girl power.

When you decide to take on this type of song for a performance, you’ll need more than just raw talent. You’ve got to incorporate style and creativity into it, too. While we may not know exactly what went down on the show, we’d like to think the foursome had everyone clapping and cheering for more. That, and how they must have been decked out in stylish, 1960s-inspired outfits, too.

One thing you’ll also notice from this short rehearsal clip is the confidence. They definitely take rehearsals seriously, going about it as though there was already an eager audience in front of them. With this type of professionalism, we also can’t help but wonder if pursuing opportunities in the music industry ever occurred to this group of talented ladies.

Today’s music isn’t always all that appealing, so it’s quite refreshing to come across the younger generation performing a Motown classic as good as “Please Mister Postman”.
