Groban regularly performs at huge concert halls across the world. In 2011, Groban was performing at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Groban wanted to get fans involved in the concert, and so he asked them to write down questions. He promised to answer some of them during the concert.

In a break between songs, Groban read one of these notes. It was from a 21-year-old singer named Josh Page.

Page wrote down that he and Groban shared the same birthday, which Groban found amusing. Page also said that he had won the 2009 David Foster Singing Competition—Groban jokingly said he didn’t know who that was.

At the end of the note, Page asked if he could sing with Groban. Groban decided to humor the young man and let him come onstage. Groban asked Page what he wanted to sing, and he said Groban’s song “The Prayer.”

The music began, and Groban started singing. Then, he motioned for Page to take the next verse.

Page belted out the next verse with his melodic tenor voice. Groban flapped his arms, stunned by the young man’s powerful voice. Page looked sheepishly at Groban, and Groban encouraged him to continue. It was clear Groban was proud of Page!

“Holy crap,” Groban said when Page finished singing. “You know, David Foster sat me down and said, ‘I’m looking for the next you.’ I guess he found him.”

Forte is comprised of three tenors: Page, Sean Panikkar, and Hana Ryu. The three met online and only met in person the day before their audition. When the judges heard this, they were skeptical.

But then, the trio started singing. The judges absolutely loved their audition!

Forte made it all the way to the final round of AGT and ended up finishing in fourth. Then, they signed with Columbia Records.

The trio has put out two albums and two singles, and they gave performed all over the world, including in famous venues like Carnegie Hall. Josh Page may have first gotten famous for a viral moment with Josh Groban, but he has certainly made a name for himself now!
