Though shows like America’s Got Talent expose the world to all kinds of talents, some of the most inspiring contestants are the most unexpected.

The show has been popular ever since it debuted in 2006, and it’s not difficult to see why. Every season, the producers bring on a wide range of talented individuals from all over the country, all of whom just want to share their talents with the world.

Because the show is open to individuals of all ages, occasionally an incredibly young contestant will stun the judges more than any adult does.

That’s exactly what happened in this audition.

The person we’re discussing is Luke Islam, a contestant on AGT’s 2019 season.

As the video begins, Islam explains that he’s from Garden City, New York—and that he’s only 12 years old. As his parents explain, Islam has been singing ever since he was in preschool and kindergarten, and over the years his passion and talents have only grown.

He goes on to explain that he fell in love with Broadway shows early on, and that he always enters the ticket lottery and begs his parents to take him to shows.

With all that established, he’s ready to walk out on stage and share his passions with the world.

As he comes out on stage, he introduces himself to the judges with a big smile.

After that, they ask him why he chose to perform on the show and what his dream was. To that question, he says that his dream is to become a star and to make it all the way to Broadway.

At this extremely confident answer, the whole crowd roars with applause. He goes on to explain that America’s Got Talent is a great platform to help him achieve his goals. Before he even sings anything, the judges are in love with his confidence and positivity.

After all that, it’s time for him to sing his song.

As he explains, he’s going to sing “She Used To Be Mine” from the Broadway musical “Waitress.”

With that, the piano accompaniment begins and Islam’s voice sounds out—and everyone’s jaw drops. Although he’s only 12 years old, his voice is so precise and resounding already!

It’s clear that Islam is a huge Broadway fan because he already has the style down perfectly. On top of his nearly pitch-perfect voice, he also adds a theatricality to his performance that brings the emotion of the song to life.

Needless to say, the judges and the crowd truly can’t believe what they’re seeing.

By the end of the song, Islam can barely even finish singing over all the applause!

Almost immediately, he bursts into tears at how much support he’s getting from the crowd. After that, the judges sound off on just how great Islam is—and his emotional connection with Hough is likely to bring a tear to your eye.

When it’s all over, Hough tells him that he’s not going to have to wait to be a star for much longer. With that, she smashes the Golden Buzzer and the whole crowd erupts!

At that point, Islam is so overcome with emotion that he falls to his knees.

Sometimes a person’s talent is so raw and powerful that all it needs is a bigger platform to make itself seen and heard. In Islam’s case, his passion for Broadway music is so clear that it seems almost inevitable that he would appear on the world stage.
