Man playing public piano gives crowd a show they will not forget

There is something so unbelievably magical about witnessing exceptional talent perform with your very own eyes. Especially when the uniqueness of the artist resonates and rings throughout the performer’s whole performance and is undeniable in their presence. Playing piano, or the movement of fingers stroking a set of keys, is undeniably an art, but this young gentleman takes it further by coaxing emotions out of the piano’s ivory keys.

No wonder so many people momentarily paused their travel plans to listen to his magic unfold.

In the video below, a young man gets set up at a free public piano and begins to play a beautiful French classic, via Argentina.

Carl Hans Vaginay, also known as “Carl Le Pianist,” is the pianist from France, who has an unbelievable talent for making piano strings vibrate in a special way. According to his Facebook page, Carl has been playing the piano for 12 years now, and he usually plays outdoors. Carl says he wants, “to share with you my passion for piano.”

Carl Le Pianist is a genuine master of the piano, playing the keys with a unique fervor and precision.

Carl plays a beautiful tune called “Que Nadie Sepa Mi Sufrir,” translated as “Let no one know my suffering.” According to Wikipedia, the song was originially composed in 1936 by Ángel Cabral, an Argentine musician.

The song was recorded by numerous Spanish musicians and then had a comeback in France, when French vocalist, Édith Pilaf, released her beautiful rendition. This 1957 version was retitled “La Foule,” and was re-written with new lyrics, causing it to become a big hit all over again.

Allmusic notes the following in her biography,

“Edith Piaf is almost universally regarded as France’s greatest popular singer. Still revered as an icon decades after her death, “the Sparrow” served as a touchstone for virtually every chansonnier, male or female, who followed her.”

One Youtuber mentioned a personal significance to the song,

“This is one of my favorite songs. My grandmother used to play this in her record player and would sing along when she was in the kitchen cooking a feast or baking.”

The city of Paris, France has begun to take part in a worldwide performance in which pianos are placed in public spaces and regular folks are told, “A vous de jouer! (It’s your turn!)”

Anyone who has enough and thinks they have the skill required to play in public, can sit down and let their fingers jam out for the world to hear and enjoy.

The public piano in this featured video was placed in the Gare Saint-Lazare, a well known train station in Paris. Also known as Paris Saint-Lazare, the terminal is the second busiest station in Paris.

And lucky for us, this fine pianist stumbled upon the gorgeous piano and sat down with an incredible gift in store for onlookers who had gathered.

As the song began to come to an end the crowd cheered excitedly. So many travelers were happy to forget about wherever they were hurrying to take a moment and appreciate the great beauty of artistry and music.

This moment of entertainment and musical magic is a perfect reminder for all of us who need to slow down and appreciate the immediate beauty that is surrounding us at all times in some way or another.
