You may recognize members of the Slidell Police Department from Louisiana if you’ve seen the docu-series Live PD.
Slidell officers appeared on Seasons 2 and 3 but took a permanent break in 2019. Lucky for us, they made an epic video before they get back to life without the constant cameras following them.
According to the show’s website:
“Slidell has been a fan favorite because of the crazy and sometimes bizarre situations that the officers dealt with. “
A little fun on the job
The video features two officers from the show – Officer Bryant Estes and Officer Jake Morris participating in The Lip Sync Challenge.
That video has garnered 33,000 views on YouTube, but since they reposted it on Facebook a month later it’s brought in a whopping 2 MILLION views!
Of course, first, they need a song. And since they were sitting in the car looking back fondly at their memories of the show, they agreed that the experience had been the time of our lives.
And that gave them an idea as they looked into each other’s eyes.
Getting theatrical
The video then cuts to an empty auditorium, and Estes begins to lip-sync the Academy Award-winning song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. You likely know it from the 1987 film Dirty Dancing.
Now, if you know how the song is used in the film, you might have one immediate question: Are they going to do the lift?
Well, first you get to see the pair do some quality spoofing of the overall scene. And commenters loved it!
“This was so funny. Louisiana men comfortable in their own manhood…Thanks for the laugh!,” said a YouTube viewer.
We really do appreciate their confidence!
Cinematography
A lot of effort went into this video, other than the two officers putting aside their egos.
It’s filmed both in the squad car and in an auditorium and the video switches back and forth between the two locations for effect.
We can definitely see why this video cracked up so many viewers.

Will they do the lift?
But the big question remains – will they try to re-enact the iconic moment from the film in which Patrick Swayze catches and lifts Jennifer Grey into the air, thereby proving that they are not only stellar dancers but the perfect couple?
You bet they do!
But at first, it looks like it might be a bit of a disaster.
Luckily, somebody’s been working out.
As Morris takes a running leap into Estes’ arms, the big guy manages to lift him up and straighten his arms.
It’s epic.
The reactions
We’re not at all surprised that this video went viral. It went so far beyond the typical Lip-Sync Challenge that we’re surprised anyone else tried to top it.
It even made some people want to re-watch Dirty Dancing!
“Y’all are cracking me up. Great job! love this movie and I will never watch it the same again at the end,” said a commenter.
