For Jordan Houston and his girlfriend Jadie Phelps, every day is an adventure.

The two are natural performers, always joking and bursting into song and dance. In an interview with The Sun Herald, Houston said: “We are performers. That’s how we met. We’ve done musical theater productions and freelance entertainment gigs together.”

“It’s second nature for us to burst out into song and dance at any given moment.”

And the delivery room was no exception.

Last month, Houston and Phelps were in the hospital, awaiting the birth of their baby.

Phelps was registered into the Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, and the couple’s families had gathered to welcome their newest addition. In the following viral video, an aunt records the scene, addressing the not-yet-born little girl and introducing her to her relatives. You see mommy, daddy, uncle, grandma, as well as the two nurses.

At one point, Houston turns to the camera, telling his unborn daughter: “You will be here soon enough, as soon as your mama pushes you real good.”

The entire family laughs at the phrasing. Then the aunt asks: “Is that intro [of the song]?”

With those words, a delivery-room beatbox acapella was born.

With the uncle humming the bassline, the dad busting out the beatbox, and mom and auntie rapping the verses, the family proceeds to give an impromptu performance of “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa.

Released in 1987, “Push It” is one of the most iconic songs in hip-hop. Performed by Salt-N-Pepa, one of the first female rap groups, the song became their first major hit, going platinum in the U.S. and several other countries. The group performed the song at major events including Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday concert— now, this adorable family’s performing it for their baby’s birth.

Everyone in the room joined in on the performance. Uncle and Grandma even shimmy in the back.

During the video, the family jokes about the baby being born dancing to the song— and while that wasn’t completely true, “about 10 minutes and two pushes later, Alaya [baby] joined us,” Houston revealed.

The nurses were so impressed by the performance, they asked the family to show the doctors too.

“We ended up performing it like three times,” he continued.
