There’s just something so exhilarating about live music: the lights, sounds, loud cheers and whistles… just the atmosphere in the place where you and your favorite artist get to be in at the same time.

While it’s among the things we badly miss the most since the pandemic hit us, it’s comforting to know that the icons in the music industry still find ways to reach out and bring their music to us.

Once you realize how much work still goes into virtual concerts, you’ll appreciate your beloved musicians even more.

While we may not be used to to see her band playing from the comforts of their home, their music can easily transport you back to the time where you could look up at the stage and watch her sing live- sounding every bit as good as all the recordings on her award-winning albums.

This live performance of “In The End” has so much attitude too, from the way each band member freely bopped their heads along as they played their instruments to the way Sheryl sang and effortlessly kept in harmony with backup vocals and the rest of her bandmates.

“There’s a fly on the wall in the house on the hill

where the king of the world watches TV

and the people await for his latest mandate

to a nation of angry believers…

His words are a drug while his loyal band of thugs

cover up all his many transgressions

the fly lands on his ear and whispers, ‘What’s there to fear

as long as you’re still the obsession?'”

The catchy track was written by longtime collaborator Jeff Trott whom Sheryl Crow also worked with on “If It Makes You Happy,” “Everyday Is A Winding Road”, and “My Favorite Mistake.”

“In The End” hints at the recent state of politics and the corporate establishment but in true classic rock and country fashion, the song cleverly leaves a little mystery, still keeping the listener focused on the artistry of it all and how seamlessly it was produced.
