The 1920s was quite a time. Known for its captivating party scene, incredible music, iconic fashion and so much more, the 20s influenced how the next few decades perceived glitz and glamour.

It was also when The Swing was born – a dance that swept through the 1930s and 1940s, adding color and life to clubs and even the streets. It wasn’t just your ordinary dance type either. It required impressive physical vigor coupled with a smoothness only the skilled could demonstrate. We’re talking excellent body control and loads of confidence!

Not much has changed about The Swing today, and we have to thank dance enthusiasts and professionals for keeping its spirit alive until these modern times.

Jack and Jasmine Willis, dancers who belong to the 6-13 Young America category, are among these individuals who remind us of just how classic and delightful The Swing is.

If the name Willis seems to ring a bell, then you’re definitely on to something.

The Willis clan are ridiculously talented.

Not only will you be impressed with the charm and dancing skills of these two, you’ll also be surprised to know that the song they’re dancing to is courtesy of their big sister and the rest of the family. Yes, those vocals and instrumentals! What a talented bunch. Skills, good looks… name it, they’ve got it.

Going back to the young dancers, the way they work the dance floor is enough to take one back to the big band era – a time of dressing to the nines, when the nights were always young.

One viewer couldn’t help but remark,

“What I don’t understand is how this family can be so absolutely amazing at everything. I mean it is absolute perfection in every artistic form.”

Basically what everyone else is thinking. How can these kids be so good at dancing? Jack and Jasmine sure know how to set the bar high for the rest of the world! What a treat to watch these two dancing. Another impressed viewer chimed in,

“I’m completely in love with these guys – I’m sure they’ll be ones to watch in a few years!! Hurrrah for the Young America category!”

Considering the colorful history of The Swing, knowing how intricate it is and how significant a role it played in social scenes, it’s unbelievable to witness two young kids demonstrating how it’s done with such joy, confidence, an ease. While theirs is at a seemingly slower pace, the style remains the same.

The two even manage to incorporate the trickier stuff into their routine, like mid air flips, splits, struts, name it, they’ve got it down pat!

The audience definitely agrees, judging from the amazement on their faces and the appreciative cheers and applause.

The dance routine seems to get more fascinating and complicated further into the song, with fancy footwork and dips done in time with the beat of the music. Jaws were definitely dropping all around! As expected, the amazing duo earned themselves more than just thunderous applause – they got a standing ovation and deafening cheers!

Now that’s how it’s done.
