While incredible talent can have us rapt with attention, there’s something about adorable kids that does the same thing.
No matter how good we get at our own talents or abilities, there is always something out there that can dwarf your own achievements. Most of the time, if we’re competitive, we’re worried about the other people out there who might’ve practiced more than us or who have more talent than we do. But we don’t usually worry about little kids wandering onto the stage and stealing all our thunder.
But that’s exactly what happened in this adorable clip.
The performance we’re talking about came from Australian mom Rebecca Salley on The Voice Australia.
As Salley starts singing, her voice has an immediate effect on the judges. Though she definitely has singing talent, there’s something else unique about her tone and power.
Before long, judge Boy George spins around in his chair—and right behind him, judge Guy Sebastian spins around as well.
The song she’s singing is “Hold My Hand” by Jess Glynne, and her voice soars right along with it.
Before long, judge Delta Goodrem spins around as well!
Though the song isn’t over, everyone in the crowd is so blown away be her performance.
A moment later, the final judge, Kelly Rowland, spins around in her chair as well!
At that point in the performance, the entire crowd and all the judges are on their feet to give her a standing ovation.
When it’s all over, they want to interview Salley and ask about where she’s from. She says she’s from Sydney and the crowd cheers. After that, the judges have only positive things to say about Salley’s performance.
As she explains, she’s had a career in musical theater, got married and had a little boy.
Before long, the judges start commenting and asking about her little boy… and before long, her husband brings him up on stage.
Salley’s little boy is named JJ, and once he’s up onstage he gives his mom a huge hug. After that, all the judges have their own questions about who to choose.
After that, JJ has the microphone and he’s interviewing all of the judges! Though they try to get back to the show, JJ seems to be stealing it—so Kelly gets out of her chair to go onstage.
Before long, the two of them are doing a duet to “Let It Go” from Frozen!
The performance is one of the most adorable things that anyone has ever seen on the show!
After that, she manages to get the microphone away from the little guy and carry on with the show. After JJ gives his mom a little kiss, he and her husband walk off and the judges start fighting for Salley.
Needless to say, Kelly has won the most points with Salley so far. After a little more build up, the two are finally united!
Needless to say, this is a unique audition unlike many people are used to seeing on The Voice.
Obviously we’re joking about how the boy upstaged his mom… but he definitely caused a pretty adorable scene.
While it takes a lot to be successful on the level that Selley is, it takes even more to maintain your family while you do it. The beautiful relationship that this mom clearly has with her son is just more evidence that Salley is a truly exceptional person. Needless to say, we can all expect big things out of her in the future.
Congratulations to Rebecca on her incredible audition! Check the full thing out below:
