Jenkins wanted to amuse people with his performance, but he also was on another mission: to find out how popular “Dance Monkey” was among Londoners.

According to him, “Dance Monkey” is only popular among TikTok users (which he confirms by asking everyone he passes about it).

“Dance Monkey” received a good reception overall when it was initially released.

But later the song went viral, and people started doing covers—it was everywhere!

Before Jenkins began his performance, a kid immediately recognized him from his videos online.

The young man turned to Jenkins and shouted, “Oh my god! I saw you on YouTube!”

This isn’t too surprising considering that Jenkins’ channel has millions of views! After that, Jenkins quickly asked the fan a question: “Have you heard of this song, ‘Dance Monkey?’”

More people joined to watch Jenkins as he kept repeating the question to anyone who would listen.

Eventually, he started into his stellar performance.

Since the clip was posted, it has earned about 25 million views and nearly one million likes.

The video also exceeded Jenkins’ own expectations for the video, as he said in the video he was hoping for just 10 million views. Clearly he blew beyond that—people love his performance and they love the original song! Although the song is now quite popular and well-known, it hadn’t exploded in popularity quite as much yet when Jenkins set about recording his performance. If anything, it just shows that he had his finger on the pulse of the culture way before anyone else did. Since the clip was posted online, Jenkins has definitely been enjoying his success as much as we are enjoying his talent.
