Though there are plenty of reality singing shows on television, few are as consistently interesting as The Voice.
While the entire trend may have been started back in 2002 with American Idol, there have still been plenty of spin-offs and changes to the formats over the years.
Among all of the shows, the classic elements are that unknown singers and performers appear before a panel of judges who either vote them forward or cut them from the competition. After that, the audience weighs in as well to vote on who is their favorite.
Still, The Voice franchise adds some interesting twists to this formula.
In most of these shows, the judges can see who is auditioning in front of them.
Still, things go a little differently on The Voice. Instead of facing the contestants, all the judges begin with their backs turned to the performers and only turn around if they want the person to join their team.
Beyond that, the show also has all kinds of additional spin-offs and regionally specific versions. More specifically, The Voice Kids (as its name suggests) is a show where only kids compete for the top spots.
And one performance on the show demonstrates just how great it can be.
The audition took place on the show’s 2015 season.
Just like any of the other shows, it begins with the contestant walking out onstage while all the judges have their backs turned. After a moment, he starts playing his guitar and singing a familiar song.
The one the performer chose was “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran, a hugely popular song and a soulful ballad. It’s clear what the song is right away, and the boy singing it has an incredible voice!
It doesn’t long for one of the judges to smash their buzzers to turn around.
As the performance continues, it only gets better and better.
Before long, a second judge hits his buzzer as well! Even though he’s so young, he definitely has mastered his voice and his tone already.
Although he doesn’t quite manage to turn all three of the judges, his performance is definitely still good enough to advance him on the show! As it turns out, the performer’s name is Noah-Levi—and this wasn’t his only awesome performance on the show.
He stunned the audience again later when he sang a famous Michael Jackson song.
In the other performance, he sings “The Way You Make Me Feel” in the semi-finals.
Once again, he takes an iconic song that everybody recognizes and finds a way to put his own personality into it. As always, his voice is amazing—but it’s really the song choice and the special delivery he brings to it that makes it so good!
As it turns out, Noah-Levi went on to more success in Germany as a result of this show!
Though we haven’t heard much about him in the United States, this young man is well on his way to becoming a huge pop star. Above all, these performances show once again that there’s no age limit on talent. If you have a passion and you pursue it while you’re young, there’s no telling where it can take you!
