The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group.

They formed in Melbourne in 1997, and they make all of their songs with nothing but samples and beats. Though their music is great on its own, when you combine it with an adorable music video, you get a masterpiece.

Filmed at the Fordham Road subway station in Bronx, New York, this song will melt your heart and remind you of how good it feels to be in love even if you’re rejected.

The Avalanches are complete masters when it comes to sampling, but they also use their vocals at times.

Their album Since I Left You has upwards of 3,500 samples. We have to say that there’s a big difference between playing or singing over one sample and composing a whole song with samples. When you only use samples, you have to find all the nuances that can be done with instruments or voices. It’s tedious work, and you’re constantly listening to new music for inspiration. The end result is a mixture of different musical periods or even genres. It is an art in its own right, and that’s why most music lovers think this band is extremely underrated.

We won’t be the judges of that, but one thing is certain: the song and the video are definitely catchy and original.

The best thing about the song is that you’ll likely have a moment when you recognize the sample, but can’t put a finger on it.

That’s the tickly thing about it—it sounds familiar and yet it’s still somehow new. If that’s not enough, just know that this became a hit with more than 35 million YouTube views.

In the video, there’s a little boy who resembles Michael Jackson, and a heart-shaped parachute.

The video is all about love.

A little boy is in love with an older girl who sells tickets at the subway. When he approaches her and asks her ticket for a dime, she tells him he obviously doesn’t have enough money. Then he tries to sing and dance for her but is rejected one more time. With nothing else to offer, a boy decides to dedicate a whole song to his love.

Suddenly, other musicians appear holding instruments and creating a romantic atmosphere for this little lovebird.

This kid’s got some spectacular dance moves and he sings so well.

The background music reminds you of an older era where couples went dancing every night and rocked a different style. In the end, a little boy comes dressed in a big, red, blow-up heart, and the girl replies with a serious, “Really?” Love hurts, and we guess she just doesn’t get the message.

This is the kind of song that can be played in any generation!

“Because I’m Me” is not a song you’ll often hear on the radio, but once you get to know it, the tune simply sticks with you.

With a perfect instrumental and an old-school soulful vibe, the song will win you over in a blink of an eye. Though many people may not have heard of it, their album Since I Left You is considered to be one of the best Australian albums of all time.

After releasing the first studio album in 2000, The Avalanches received multiple awards and the album was a critical and commercial success.

The second album, Wildflower, was released in 2016. They also confirmed that the third studio album will soon be released and available on all platforms. We can’t wait to hear more from this band and to see them live soon!
