Over the years, there have been tons of amazing dance performances on America’s Got Talent.

As in all good performances, there are many different elements that have to come together to make it great. Although there’s definitely the element of raw talent that needs to be there, there’s other things beyond it that take it to the next level.

In addition to the basic abilities that go into something, there’s also a layer of showmanship and stage presence that can take things to another level.

In some other cases, the performance itself is so creative and inventive that it inspires the audience.

One of these auditions occurred on America’s Got Talent’s 2019 season.

The performers in question came from Ukraine and called themselves Verba Shadow. As they explain to the judges, the group does unique performances where they use the shadows to tell a story.

Although they have plenty of talent, they also have a romantic story behind what they do as well—because two of the main dancers fell in love with each other while performing together!

Before long, it’s time for the judges to clear the way for them to perform.

As the performance starts, the lights go down and the dancers get in position.

At the beginning, there are only two dancers on the stage. In fitting with their love story, the two dancers hold each other and dance around each other.

Before long, they’re joined by a group of ballerinas as well who all come on and do a pose. But before long, they all move closely together to form a big block of a shadow. After that, they break apart and a heart balloon flies out of the middle!

Before long, that evaporates as well and there’s another part of the story unfolding!

Next up, the couple from the beginning makes a heart with their bodies… and a child forms between them.

After that, more dancers and objects come together to form a house that the couple lives in. Before long, the husband seems to be leaving for war—and right at that moment, a huge crosshairs appears out of nowhere to center on him, shocking the audience!

After that, the dance dissolves into a full-on battle scene. Somehow, the dancers form themselves into the shape of a battle helicopter… and then into the shape of a huge silhouette of a man saluting!

Towards the end, the husband returns to his home to see it has been destroyed.

Still, an angel appears and gives him a baby to raise.

Shortly after that, the man raises the baby by himself in the home until it’s fully grown. After that, the son is caring for him in his old age. Finally, he gives the wedding ring he planned to propose to the first woman with to his son—and he gets married instead.

At the end, he can be seen putting flowers on his wife’s grave. Needless to say, this is a heartbreaking performance that touches the audience.

When it’s all over, the crowd gets on their feet to give them a round of applause!

Though there have been some great dancers on the show before, these performers were so unique and soulful.

Although most dances make sure you can see the people performing, this one uses just the performer’s shadows to create a heart-rending love story that spans a whole lifetime! While it goes without saying, anybody who was in the audience that day is sure to not forget this incredible performance.

Congratulations to Verba Shadow on their creativity! Watch the full thing in the clip below:
