“Dream On” is one of Aerosmith’s major hits from their 1973 debut album.
Fast forward to 2020 and YouTube is flooded with different song covers, some of which are almost as good as the original songs. It’s a common thing to see on the platform, and there are plenty of amateur artists giving it a shot for themselves.
In this video, a girl named Gabriella Quevedo does an instrumental cover of the popular Aerosmith ballad. She is young, talented and a breath of fresh air with her unique style and musical arrangement.
She doesn’t rush the music, her playing is right on time and she sounds very crisp and amazing.
When the video begins we see a girl in front of the camera, holding her guitar and she immediately starts to play.
Her music speaks for itself, there is no need for an intro or any explanation. From the moment she starts playing you kind of know that it’s going to be a beautiful cover. She is patient when playing and doesn’t rush any sound.
There is no fret noise and everything seems to be perfectly placed in this outstanding arrangement. The rhythm is powerful and it’s easy to see this girl loves to play guitar. She emphasizes all the best parts of the song along with the melody lines and it’s soothing and powerful at the same time.
As it turns out, Quevedo uses two capos on her guitar to make it easier to play some of the chords.
The fact remains: this young girl is very talented and she’s not afraid to experiment with the music she plays.
She looks only a few times at the camera while she plays, she is focused and seems to be melted with her guitar. Her guitar playing is that good, that you almost expect Steven Tyler to appear right beside her and start singing along.
She would make the Aerosmith frontman very proud.
Whenever a young person shows such talent and dedication while delivering almost a masterpiece, you can’t avoid being emotional and impressed.
The way she plays makes you feel the music and understand why people fall in love with music. Steven Tyler once told that his father was a classical composer and that he would lie under his piano while he played because he was so in love with it. We’re guessing that Quevedo’s music would make him feel the same way! Her version brings to life the most vivid moments. A song like this awakens memories, imagination and a person’s soul. When it’s played properly, you can just sit back and enjoy yourself.
As it turns out, Quevedo recorded her two first songs at a studio established by a former ABBA member.
Quevedo uploaded this video to her YouTube account with 1.1 million subscribers. Since the video was uploaded in 2015, it has earned almost four million views. Based on the reactions she gets from the YouTube community, we’re guessing that she’s only going to get more and more recognition. The comments section is full of praise for her amazing talent. Though she’s only 23 years old today, she’s been playing guitar since she was 12.
Her album called Acoustic Cover Songs Vol. 1 appeared on Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, Tidal, Apple Music and YouTube Music in July 2018.
Quevedo released her two original songs in 2019, and we can only wish her luck on her way to stardom. She already has all the talent she needs!
