There’s no doubt that Andrea Bocelli is one of the most famous opera singers in the world. The 60-year-old has won Grammy awards, sung with other performers all over the planet, and even performed for Pope John Paul II. One of his most beloved songs, “The Prayer,” has been performed alongside many famous singers, most notably Celine Dion.

But the singer gave a particularly moving performance when he performed the aria with Katharine McPhee.

The two singers, both wearing white, took their places on the stage. McPhee gently touched Bocelli’s arm to let him know that she was there.

In case you’ve never heard of Bocelli and his angelic voice before, you should know that he’s been blind since the age of 12. He was born with congenital glaucoma. While this affected his sight from birth, he did not lose his vision completely until an injury during a soccer match that caused a brain hemorrhage.

It may be one thing the singer is known for, but it’s far from what defines Bocelli.

Instead, he’s known around the globe for a voice that Celine Dion once described as divine.

“If God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli,” Dion has been known to say. Meanwhile, record producer David Foster has called Bocelli’s voice the most beautiful on earth.

Foster himself was involved in the original composition of “The Prayer”.

It was written back in the late 1990’s and intended for two versions. One, in English, was sung by Celine Dion. The other, the Italian translation, was sung by Bocelli.

During this performance, Foster introduced Bocelli and McPhee with an explanation about the song.

“It’s been a song that’s been something I’ve always been proud to say that I was part of,” he said.

Bocelli has also performed “The Prayer” with Dion herself.

But during this performance, he mingled his powerful vocals with the gentle but strong voice of Katharine McPhee.

McPhee stayed close to Bocelli as they sang together. Dressed in a long white gown, she placed her arm on his back and occasionally smiled at him as they sang.

McPhee and Bocelli combined the two versions in their performance, singing in both English and Italian.

It’s an amazing thing to hear voices blending so beautifully when they’re not even using the same language.

McPhee is an actress and singer who got her start by auditioning for American Idol in 2006.

Although she didn’t win the season, she was the runner-up, kickstarting her career. Since then, she’s released several albums and also branched into acting. She appeared on television shows such as Family Guy and Ugly Betty. Currently, she’s playing the lead role in the Broadway musical Waitress on London’s West End.

There’s no doubt that McPhee will never forget singing with the man who is said to have the voice of God Himself.
