Has there been a more popular children’s movie in the past 10 years than Frozen?

We didn’t think so either. For a while there, EVERYTHING was Frozen-themed.

Now, nearly a decade later, we are still basking in the remnants and commercial success of the movie.

Even now, it’s one of the most famous animated films in history!

During its theatrical run, the film was a significant commercial success, earning $1.280 billion in worldwide box office revenue. It also overtook Toy Story 3 to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and carried its position until it was overtaken by the remake of The Lion King in 2019. – Wikipedia

I mean, we can talk about all the different aspects of Frozen all day and what made it so successful.

At the core of the movie though, three little words are probably the real reason behind its massive success (and why you, an adult, have seen it four times).

Those three words?

Let. It. Go.

Let It Go was the hit song in the movie, and we would ALL be lying if we pretended we didn’t know every word to it!

It’s an empowering song that reminds us that we can be whatever we want to be! On top of that message, it’s just so catchy.

It was so catchy that people literally put the name Elsa on the top 100 baby names of 2014.

In a 2014 mid-year report of the 100 most-used baby names conducted by BabyCenter, Elsa was ranked 88; it was the first time the name had appeared on the site’s chart.[342] Sarah Barrett, managing director of the site, explained that while the film’s popular heroine is called Anna, “Elsa offers a more unique name and is also a strong female role model.” – Wikipedia

People just love to watch and sing along with the movie, and we can’t really blame them!

One extreme example of that shows just how much little girls AND boys liked the movie.

Idina Menzel (the voice behind Elsa) was doing a show in front of a live audience.

While talking to the crowd of kids, she asked one boy to come up and talk a bit with her.

Hilariously, the kid starts giving her some attitude!

Idina then explains how she often goes to shows, and the boys say they don’t like her song!

When this kid announces he loves the song, he gets a chance to sing it with the girl who sang it originally!

When he starts singing, the crowd is absolutely shocked.

With power and skill, the kid lets his pipes loose.

With power and vibrato, he pushes through the lyrics like an actual professional, not a kid who just hopped onto a stage.

You can see on Idina’s face she is astonished.

Of all the kids that she could have picked to come up and sing, she picked the kid who REALLY could.

Amid claps and cheers, Idina asks everyone to be quiet so he can do it again!

As he goes through the chorus for round two, it might be even better than the first.
