Just because you get older doesn’t mean you can’t still dance your heart out. I mean, who says it’s just the youngsters who get to have all the fun?
One day in Brussels, Belgium, a crowd gathered to enjoy a musical performance on the street. But while the busker should have been the center of attention – an elderly woman ended up stealing the spotlight with her dance moves. Let’s just say she’s my new hero.
It’s a video that’s racked up over 11.7 million views.
A beatboxing musician named Power Beat sets up his speaker in the middle of a crowded area – ready to put on a show for the public.
People stop curiously as he makes his last preparations. Although most strangers stand in the distance – there’s one woman up front who seems most eager to enjoy some entertainment.
You can’t miss her.
The “granny” is wearing a floral dress, trenchcoat, and has her poodle’s leash in hand. She was likely out for a walk, but decided to take a bit of a dancing break.
She flaps her arms to the sounds of Power Beat as he gets ready to start. Then the musician pulls out his harmonica to work his magic on the microphone – and that’s when the fun really begins.
Granny was ready to dance.
She bops her head to the beat and throws in some Vogue-style moves. Next, she treats everyone to a little jig, hopping on the bricks with her hands on her hips.
The dog stands there patiently while his owner dances the day away. Something tells me it’s not the first time he’s witnessed such an event…
They’re the perfect duo.
Power Beat gets a little closer to the woman who’s obviously a big fan of his music style. Together, the two entertain the crowd that seems to be loving the show too (how could you not?).
Some people stop doing the things they love when they get older, or sadly, sometimes their body just doesn’t work the way it use to. This granny, however, never lost her ability to bust a move.
She continues her head rolls, arm flaps, hip shakes, and all the other sweet moves she throws in. Can we get a bucket of water, because this lady’s on fire!
You go girl.
Just when you think granny’s got to be getting a little sleepy from her workout, she’s actually got more skills up her sleeve. She drops her dog’s leash, then several moments later – gets down on all fours to dance.
If people didn’t have their cameras out to record the scene some might not believe it. Fortunately, they did, and yes, the elderly woman whipped her head around like she was at a hairband concert.
Power Beat bends down closer to the woman’s level for the end of the song. Together they put on a little grand finale for everyone.
The dozens and dozens of strangers cheered in response to the performance.
It’s definitely not one you see every day – although it would be the best form of medicine if you did. Afterward, the woman gets up and waves goodbye to Power Beat. She then casually walks away towards the crowd with her dog, as if nothing happened.
A lot of folks are too nervous to dance in front of others. This woman, however, showed everyone that having fun is what life’s all about and that you’re never too old to boogie.
