Father’s Day has come and gone but to be honest, dads should be appreciated and celebrated more often.

These hardworking men sacrifice so much just to provide for their families.

They take the brunt of the weather, traffic, and constant worries of life. Not to take away anything from mom’s but since this is a story about a father and his daughter, we’ll focus on that.

Meet Rory Feek and his daughter Indy.

Pretty little Indiana Boone is Rory’s daughter with Joey Feek, his wife. Indiana.

She has two older sisters from her dad’s previous marriage.

On Father’s Day, little Indy woke her dad up to greet him a very sweet “Happy Father’s Day” complete with a card and a gift.

It’s okay to have tears in your eyes right now.

Now Rory still performs, and in fact, Indy has joined him on stage many times.

But when she asked to sing with him, Rory was beyond delighted so he immediately set to work.

He knew the perfect song already.

“Daddy What If” by Shel Silverstein.

Silverstein is the writer of Where The Sidewalk Ends, The Giving Tree, and lots of other children’s books and songs.

Rory first heard the song when he was just an eight-year-old boy in Kansas.

He was in his father’s old Buick, and he’d always sing along to the song. Wonderful memories.

So Rory taught Indy how to sing the song by typing out the lyrics then drawing pictures using crayons &and markers. That helped show Indy the parts she would sing.

Then he switched to the word “Papa” instead of “Daddy”. It’s what Indy calls him.

Indy quickly learned the song, always wanting to practice with her dad every opportunity she got. She’s a wonderful singer!

And just look at how she looks up at her father with the sweetest, most charming smile, just adoring the man who is raising her.

Rory’s voice is so full of love as he sings to his daughter.

Here’s a viewer loving the entire moment.

“Joey is smiling from the heavens for sure. Great Job Indiana. And Great Job papa. I absolutely love this video. These are the most beautiful memories. After our daughter passed we really never knew the true meaning of the phrase. “Capture every moment. Because you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”. You are doing amazing with that precious girl. She’s so beautiful, such a precious blessing.”

It was definitely heartbreaking for Rory, but Joey’s legacy lives on in Indy.

Little Indy who lights up Rory’s world. Indy, whose adorable smile is brighter than the morning sun.
