There are times when we just can’t imagine ourselves standing up and speaking to a room full of strangers.
Still, this sort of thing happens to maybe some people who gained the courage to do it. Well, we can’t deny that we enjoy watching these impromptu performers—especially when they really have the talent to show it off.
That’s exactly what happens in the karaoke contest in this video.
We do karaoke with our friends, and sometimes we have to have a couple of drinks so we have the confidence to sing around them.
Still, doing karaoke with a bunch of strangers is another matter entirely.
None of that mattered for vacationer Andy Streich when he decided to go up the stage during a karaoke contest on a Royal Caribbean cruise.
He got up there to sing his favorite song, namely “Any Way You Want It” by Journey—and the crowd wouldn’t stop believing in his talent!
From the very beginning, his friends were so hyped about him getting up on stage.
Andy’s friends probably urged him to perform at the event, and they were beyond excited about it.
When Andy finally got welcomed on stage, they gave him the loudest of cheers.
The host asked a couple of questions to warm Andy up and during their talk, everyone found out that Andy was from Washington.
After that, the host asked him why he deserved to be a karaoke superstar. “It’s not that I feel I deserve it, it’s just that mama always told me that karaoke is like a box of chocolates,” Andy humbly replied to the host.
Aside from his confidence, he really had the voice to boast!
It takes guts, courage and maybe a bit of peer pressure to go up the stage to perform—and evidently, Andy had all three.
After the warm welcome, the music finally starts.
Andy began to sing his song, astonishing the audience with his stunning voice.
He brought the groove along with his moves, but what really captured everyone’s interest was his awesome, raspy voice.
The way he owned the stage is something that crowd will never forget!
As he continued singing with his golden voice, he was doing everything he could to show off his charisma as well.
With one leg keeping the beat, he sang his heart out—with adrenaline rushing through him the entire time.
As he continued with the verses, it was clear just how comfortable he was performing onstage.
Seeing the people enjoying the show must’ve motivated him to give it his best, and he definitely did!
In the end, his energetic performance won him the top prize in the contest!
After all the contestants have sung, the winner of the contest was announced—and of course, the winner was none other than Andy Streich.
People gave their loud cheers and applause, and Andy walked out the stage brimming with happiness and satisfaction with his well-deserved win!
Since the rise of coronavirus, the cruise industry has slowed significantly and we haven’t been able to have karaoke contests like this one. Even so, Andy’s performance here is just inspiration for when things get back to normal again. Even if we’re nervous, you’ll definitely catch us onstage after this is all over!
