Rarely has a stunned silence washed over the America’s Got Talent audience after an audition.
But that’s exactly what happened after Nightbirde took the stage and sang her original song.
Who is Nightbirde? Well the intro on her website gives a deep enough insight into who this woman is.
“After the doctor told me his diagnosis, and after the man I married said he didn’t love me anymore, I chased a miracle in California and sixteen weeks later, I got it. The illness was gone. But when my brain caught up with it all, something broke. I later found out that all the stress at once had caused a physical head trauma, and my brain was sending false signals.”
“I have had cancer three times now, and I have barely passed thirty. There are times when I wonder what I must have done to deserve such a story. I fear sometimes that when I pass and meet with God, that He will say I disappointed Him, or offended Him, or failed Him. Maybe He’ll say I just never learned the lesson, or that I wasn’t grateful enough.”
And yet you wouldn’t think that the woman standing on that stage with the brightest smile, exchanging pleasantries with the judges was going through a tough time.
Simon Cowell was on the verge of tears.
Nightbirde shares that she had a 2% chance of survival. And that’s not zero, she says. This woman is beyond incredible. Her strength and passion for life stunned everyone in that hall.
And just wait until she sings.
Nightbirde, also known as Jane, wrote her song “It’s Okay” about “the last year of [her] life”.
It just speaks of her battle currently residing in her lungs, spine and liver. Jane is only 30.
Jane’s voice is an enchanting lullaby.
The kind you want to hear in a moving vehicle that’s being drenched by the rain.
The kind that goes well with a cup of almost-cold coffee and a broken heart. Listen.
Her audition vide has already garnered over 17 million views and counting.
The lyrics to her song is Jane telling her story.
And the beauty of it all is that it’s so easy to listen to, and yet this was a woman who almost shook hands with the end.
It may be mellow and melodic but there’s that hint of positivity to it.
Simon’s initial reaction when Jane finished?
That was around the time the whole place fell silent, a true testament to the power that Nightbirde had just unleashed on stage. And as if on cue, after Simon’s one remark, everybody stood up to applaud and cheer Jane.
All four judges found themselves on their feet!
Howie, Sofia, Heidi and Simon all agreed on the authenticity of her song and the chills that came with it.
Then Mr. Cowell took Jane’s experience to a level she didn’t think would happen.
“I’m not going to give you a ‘yes’. I’m gonna’ give you something else.”
Says Simon as he reaches over to hit the golden buzzer.
Confetti fell from the heavens, covering the woman who stood as a beacon of hope in spite of all that she’s enduring.
Jane stole the show, the hearts, and all the tears that day.
And she’s not done. Spread your wings, Nightbirde. Show the world everything you’ve got!
