A lot of unexpected friendships form in front of public pianos.
There are days where you just find strangers hanging out and create great music together in front of an unsuspecting crowd.
This woman spends free time on an airport’s public piano while waiting for her plane.
Everyone at the airport has at least a little time to kill while waiting for their respective flights.
Some may indulge themselves scrolling on their phones while some roam around looking at the airport’s shops. However, one woman found a perfect way to pass the time by using the airport’s public piano. This particular woman was Vanessa Sabrina Gnaegi, otherwise known as the professional pianist Ladyva.
Ladyva decided to play some boogie-woogie music to pass the time.
Ladyva was waiting for her plane at the Charles de Gaulle airport, but even she couldn’t just stay seated doing nothing.
As soon as she saw the white piano at the airport, she couldn’t help herself. Ladyva decided to hit the piano keys with some groovy boogie-woogie tunes to entertain herself and everyone else around her.
Suddenly, a guy with a saxophone jumps in on the scene to join her.
The passersby were already so mesmerized by Ladyva’s catchy piano song that they almost failed to notice another person setting up his own instrument.
The man pulled out his saxophone and stood next to the piano, enough for Ladyva to acknowledge his presence. The sax guy then tried to find his way into the music and Ladyva gladly gave him an opening so that they could duet. The man was able to tap into the rhythm and joined Ladyva for a spontaneous collaboration!
As the performance goes on, they each get their own opportunity to shine throughout the boogie-woogie jam.
The saxophonist clearly has plenty of guts and skill to match Ladyva’s upbeat rhythm, but neither artist tries to steal the other’s thunder during the show.
Instead, they complement each other the entire time! In jazz band performances, each musician gets equal opportunity to show off to the crowd, and that’s exactly what Ladyva and the saxophonist did. They took turns leading the melody by using subtle signals and body language to communicate. For a spontaneous show, it was beyond perfect!
Ladyva and the sax guy killed it on this wonderfully improvised boogie-woogie performance.
The whole floor was filled with the sounds of dance-inducing sax and piano as the two musicians played.
At the near-end of the performance, the guy handed the spotlight to Ladyva to lead the end of their improvised piece. Ladyva gracefully executed the finale with her rapid fingers and the saxophonist joined in once again for the final part of the piece.
They never knew each other before, but what a splendid display of talent!
It was confirmed that the professional pianist, Ladyva, and the saxophonist, Illynes, had never met before.
Even so, they were able to connect through their music during the spontaneous jam session at the airport—and now that moment lives on forever on the internet. It’s certainly wonderful how music can bring people together. They were enjoying themselves by making good music, and the people around them enjoyed every second of their performance.
