We’ve all heard of child prodigies before, but few of us have ever actually come in contact with one.

For anyone who doesn’t know, a child prodigy is typically defined as a young boy or girl, typically under the age of 10, who has achieved a level of mastery at some kind of skillset to the same level as an expert adult performer. Needless to say, there are all kinds of different prodigies out there—some of them are expert chess players, some are mathematical geniuses and others are excellent painters.

Today, we’re looking at a young boy who is an expert musician.

As a contestant on The World’s Best, little Lydian Nadhaswaram blew everybody away.

Nadhaswaram is a 13-year-old boy from India who is absolutely a child prodigy when it comes to piano. Throughout his time on the show, he blew the crowd away by performing all kinds of fast and intricate classical piano pieces flawlessly. Still, everybody only thought that Nadhaswaram’s skills were limited to the piano.

That is, until he proved them all wrong with one truly remarkable performance.

As the show begins, Nadhaswaram steps out and sits at the piano bench in the normal fashion.

Seated in front of a giant full moon on the stage, he sets into a thrilling and pitch perfect performance of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.” Although many of us have probably heard this piece at some point in our life, what’s easy to miss is just how emotion delicate emotion is packed into the notes of the piece. While the song requires the pianist to be extremely precise and fast with their hands, it also requires a delicate touch at the same time.

Fortunately, Nadhaswaram is able to pull all of this off without any problem at all—and the crowd cheers him on.

After finishing up the piece, he stands from the piano and faces the applauding audience.

As it turns out, however, the performance is not over. “That was ‘Moonlight Sonata,’” Nadhaswaram says.

“We’re going to have it played back, and I have a surprise for you.” He says this last part with a smile as he walks down from the bench and over to a drum kit that has been set up onstage. Right after that, he tells the crew to cue up the tape.

As his own performance starts playing back, he starts playing an incredible drum solo along with it!

Because the piano piece is so fast, he has to play the drums just as precisely and quickly to keep up with it!

His drumming is definitely rock music inspired and he juggles all kinds of complex moves and time signatures throughout while following perfectly along to the piano music! By this point in the show, the crowd can barely believe just how talented this little boy is. When the music ends, he continues on the drums for a moment just to show the crowd what he can do.

After one last incredibly fast and intricate drum solo, Nadhaswaram takes a bow to thunderous applause.
