We don’t usually expect to see much when we go to the local department store.

Although there might be a few good surprise deals available, we pretty much know what we’re in for. Some of us may like to go shopping or to engage in the daily tedium of life, but for many of us those are just chores that we have to do to get through the day. Still, anything that breaks up our daily routine and makes us pay attention is a welcome surprise.

As it turns out, that’s true for both customers and people who work at these kinds of stores.

For further evidence of this, consider the video from a Target in Duarte, California near Monrovia.

If you’ve ever held a retail job, you know just how important it is to be kind and engaging with customers. On the other hand, you know just how boring and dry it can be to be stuck in one of those stores all day… even worse is if the customers are actively rude to you. Fortunately, that was not the case at all in this video. If it’s not a saying already then it should be: nothing brightens up a boring work shift like an adorable toddler.

Even better than that is when you can take some time to dance while getting paid!

It all started when a mother named Stefanie brought her two-year-old daughter Evallyn to go shopping with her.

Like any toddler would be, Evallyn was very excited and had plenty of energy in the store. To try and keep her calm, Stefanie gave her her own shopping cart to push. As it turned out, that was a mistake. Stefanie explained the situation on NBC Los Angeles:

“I immediately regretted that decision. I spent the trip trying to keep my daughter walking in a straight line pushing her cart while also steering my cart and shopping, doubling back to get her tiny shopping cart when she would get distracted and leave it in the middle of an aisle, and the usual telling her she couldn’t have everything she saw.”

Fortunately, AJ, one of the store’s employees, decided to help Stefanie out during the checkout process in an adorable fashion.

It all began when AJ asked Evallyn if she was a ballerina.

Shortly after that, Evallyn said that she was and started showing her how to dance. Before long, AJ was fully participating in the dance herself. While all this was happening, mom was able to check out without much hassle. Still, she also had time to pull out her phone to capture the adorable dance that the two were doing!

The resulting video is so cute and is sure to warm your heart.

Although the dancing only lasted for a few moments, the story has spread around the internet like wildfire.

Aside from being covered by the local news, other sites including PopSugar, Patch and The Bump have given their own write-ups of it as well. The clip has already been shared all over the web and has been watched thousands of times (though it’s sure only to grow from there). While this video is particularly adorable, it turns out that Target is actually a pretty popular dancing location. If you don’t believe us, why not take it from Beyoncé herself!

In this clip, it all started when the Queen B’s personal stylist started dancing in Target in honor of the release of one of Beyoncé’s new albums. Before long, he had a whole wall of dancers lined up behind him in formation. In just a few short moments a flash mob had formed and people had their phones out. Before long, there’s a whole crowd of dancers doing complex choreography! The video has been viewed more than two million times… and with Beyoncé’s personal endorsement, it’s not hard to see why.

If you’re a fan of flash mobs in general, Target may be the place to go—and it’s not just Beyoncé getting in on the action.

Another group of Target employees decided to get in on the action as well with their own choreography to the Cupid Shuffle. Though it starts off slowly, before long there’s a huge crowd busting out all their best moves for the world to see! We’re not sure what it is about Target that inspires people to dance but the evidence is in the videos!

Above all, these clips remind us to find the little joys in life to keep things exciting.

Although we don’t usually think of chores and obligations as something we look forward to doing, seeing these little spontaneous moments shows us that there’s plenty of joy to be had in life if we’re willing to look for it. For that, we should thank Evallyn and AJ! Next time we’re in Target, we’re going to try to start our own dance party.
