A musician hailing all the way from Illinois stunned the internet with a unique cover.

In the age of the internet, cross-cultural exchange is more popular than ever—and this video is the latest and best example. In this video, this artist plays a gorgeous violin cover of the theme song from a Japanese show called Fairy Tale.

Taylor Davis was born on March 20, 1987.

She is an American violinist, arranger and composer who is best known for her violin covers of music from video games which are uploaded on her YouTube channel. Aside from her covers, she also posts performances of her own arrangements of music from films and musicals. On July 2013, she started releasing her own original compositions as well.

In a video uploaded on her YouTube account, the video starts with Fairy Tail’s guild symbol on the screen as the low humming sound of the violin is being played, its melodious notes softly floating in the air.

As the camera focus shifts, it reveals a vast meadow and an open blue atmosphere. The picturesque scene makes her performance all the more magical—it almost looks surreal.

The Fairy Tail Theme was originally composed and arranged by Yasuharu Takanashi.

The original version by Yasuharu is played using more instruments and is heavily backed by bass.

Though the original version is high-energy, Taylor’s rendition is more solemn.

For those who don’t know, Fairy Tail started off as a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima.

It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017. It was later adapted into an anime series.

Later in Taylor’s arrangement, her violin is accompanied by bass which adds more depth to her performance.

Taylor started her first YouTube channel under the pseudonym “ViolinTay” on April 29, 2010.

Since then, she has captured both media and people’s attention due to her excellent technique and versatility.

She performs with so much ardor in her eyes, and she has a smile on her face the entire time!
